This topic is probably more for the budding entrepreneurs who may not quite grasp the power of advertising. Yet they know they must advertise. So they may visit one of these “one size fits all” sites and purchase some business cards and maybe some postcards at what are seemingly affordable rates. They feel they have received value when infact I believe they have done themselves a disservice. This may work for some businesses for a short time but depending on the caliber of the coveted target market this could prove to be a disaster. Every promotional piece from the business card to the billboard speaks volumes about who you are, what your company represents and what kind of service should be expected. I have seen it all; from business cards with perforated edges printed with the home printer with faded ink to the business cards that look exactly the same as their competition’s because they order the same template from the same company.
Presentation is everything so one should invest wisely. Your product and service is unique so your promotional tools should not look like everyone else’s promotional tools. As I have mentioned previously, on more than one occassion I happened to pick-up business cards of three different hair salons that remarkably was the same exact design and layout. I thought it was the same company until I read the name of the businesses on the card. They were literally located within less than a mile of each other. Apparently the business card design was a product of one of the “one size fits all” printing companies and is a very popular design and I must admit it is quite clean and elegant layout. However, three different salons with same look and feel within a half of mile radius of each other cannot be a good thing. Can you imagine if all of them were to continue their promotion and create signs and banners using the same artwork? Pretty scary thought! So when thinking of promoting your services give consideration to how you wish to appeal to potential buyers and patrons and how you would like these potential buyers to respond. Don’t be afraid to invest for the customization and “one-of-kindness”. This guy maybe able to help you with that.
